ATC 2 : The Dualist

Produced 2003.05.22 - 2007.09.04
8 chapters. 324 pages + 9 pages of "cover" graphics & 4 pages of Interstitial.

The previous explanation was wordy and inaccurate. It's been commented out, so you can read it in the page source if you'd like.

The Dualist is book two of what should eventually become seven or so volumes of weapons-grade science-fantasy. It began production in Q2 2003 and was completed in Q3 of 2007. The Dualist is complete, though it still needs a decent, spoiler-free synopsis.

Chapter Zero : Signal

2004.12.26 - 2005.04.26, 46 pages.

I realized somewhere between chapters Two and Three that I'd essentially started the story somewhere after the first commercial break, having completely cut out all of the (fairly important, or so I'm told) establishing bits. Given how my abilities have developed since I started work in Chapter One in May of 2003, I'm glad that Zero was created after Three, as it made it easier on me to put things in context, while presenting newcomers with sequential art that's substantially better than what you'll find in Convergence.

Chapter One : Convergence

2003.05.23 - 2003.07.31 with additions made 2005.05 -2005.06; 37 pages.

18:06 < mdxi> a synopsis would be more like: templar agent raven arrives in teh outback where she hopes to establish contact with this guy named john who does something with spaceships. they meet and alarms go off
18:06 < phun> cut to boobs
18:06 < mdxi> oh yeah. the boobs.
18:07 < mdxi> i'm not complaining, mind you.

Chapter Two : Reentry

2003.10.07 - 2004.03.27, with corrections made 2005.05 -2005.06; 43 pages.

The major plotlines of The Dualist begin to take shape as it becomes brutally clear to Greg and Thad that ordeals they'd thought long past are now coming back around, meaner and hungrier than ever.

Meanwhile, further up the Annex, John immediatly puts his reinstated Templar account to abuse and the Bedlam administrators get a taste of the hell that's in store for the facility caught in the center of the conflict.

Chapter Three : Clarity

2004.06.19 - 2004.12.06, 49 pages.

Thad comes to with even more fuel for his neurosis, Naomi pulls the Daedalus up the Annex and gets clued by John while Raven and Tantek speculate about the nature of the communication John kicked them out of the remains of the Epiphany bridge to make. During the intelligence exchange in Australia, information gathering of an altogether different nature is taking place in the Veil and at Bedlam, stirring up Thad's psyche just in time to foul a Templar attempt to recover Ornix Kahn.

Chapter Five : Descent

2006.04.19 - 2006.06.21, 23 pages.

Descent finally draws together all of the myriad plot threads into a cohesive narrative. Things are moving inexorably to a head, and there's nothing anyone who's been sucked into events can do to stop it, steer it, or slow it down.

Interstitial

2007.08.21 - 2007.09.14, 4 pages.

The natural wind-down and flow of events that occurs between the final moments of The Dualist and the opening scene of Transitional Voices. While not required to enjoy either story, these pages are canonical, and were created primarily to keep my skills sharp while giving a little something back to the loyal readers and proofreaders who would otherwise be waiting even longer for new installments.
