20070724 : Tweaked. Very, very slightly.

The nice thing about background recycling is that it takes about five and a half hours to bust out a page, as opposed to seven or eight. Can't quite bring myself to do that with line art on a regular basis- though I've cycled a couple of illustrations, it's always been the line work, never the lighting.

Whee. Tired- crashing from an accidental caffeine overdose, and still irritated that a card from my parents - mailed December 17th - seems to have never made it to my house. I'm used to this- packages and letters and what have you have a tendency to never make it into the house, or to completely disappear. "Benefit" of living on the South Side of Pittsburgh, I guess- I sure do miss the days before the place became a fucking dormatory, when it was possible to get around without choking on secondhand pot smoke or getting your ears shat in by fratstain mating calls. With the college brat influx came the typical teenage/fuckstain disgregard for property, and I've found myself contemplating automated gun platforms and electified copper-plated piss-proof siding again. It's like Han Dold, only without any of the parts I actually want to draw.

Ever wonder why I spend so much time working on the comic? It ain't the weather, that's for damned sure.

Should be able to get the scene done this week, I think- after which there'll be a short pause while I attend to some other matters and spitshine the scene that comes afterwards- which is where things start to get all kinds of fucked up. :-)

Speaking of fucked up, I totally fucked up the perspective on the Major in the second panel. Says something about how my head works that I didn't even notice this until two hours later.
